For my #nature doodlewash today I found nature was in trouble, with this hare hot tailing it away from this persistent hound. By the way as I painted it, I can tell you that the hare escapes, and nature wins. ( for anybody worried no hare was injured in today’s blog post, it is all fictional and I put the two animals together to create this hare-raising encounter). I used my lamy pen, and WNewton watercolours.

About REcreate-RebeccaEvansCreate
My name is Rebecca Evans, living in the New Forest I have been inspired to paint the many animals often seen around me. Having ridden since Childhood, painting equines was a natural path to follow.
I use a variety of media, watercolour, oil, charcoal, pastel, inks, plus a few more, infact I will try most things. Choosing the medium to work with can really change the effect of the art, and therefore the character of the animal. Sometimes it is an instant decision, sometimes it is the mood from within me which determines which medium I choose to use.
I never know what might inspire me next, but if it’s hairy, I will be sure to try.
Absolutely captivating-I can sense the sound and motion in the image-

Run, rabbit, run! So glad it’s a painting and that hound will never catch the hare. 🙂

I am so pleased you think so Laura, my plan is to try to create more action type art, still a lot to learn, they need more movement feeling to them, but I am happy, it’s a new challenge at least.

I’d think action shots like this might generate more interest too. And definitely be a challenge! Love them!

Thanks Charlie, I could never hurt a hare, even if it is an inked and washed one.

Definitely has that sense of ‘can’t look’ that the real-life moment would have for me, but the knowledge that the hare will always win allows me to behold the spectacle (ish!). Awesome work all round Rebecca – I especially like the flickers of grass. The straight terrain almost makes it look as if they’re going to charge off the page – very clever!

Thanks Jacob, I like that ‘ can’t look’ …… What if he actually did stop, turned around, stood on his long strong hind legs…..dog now shocked and confused, then boxed him on the nose, and casually walked off, muttering under his breath?? Hare power.
