Two of my favourite subjects to paint, hares and horses ( in case you didn’t know) here are two of my most recent paintings.
‘Roger’is a beautiful cob, sadly no longer here, but I was asked to paint him by a good friend of mine, I would love to have met Roger, he looks like the sweetest gentle giant, I only had a few photos to work from, so I hope I captured his character.
‘Sollie’ is a hare painted from a reference photo from Danny Brannigan from the Facebook group ‘ photos for artists. Do check out the group for some great reference photos.

About REcreate-RebeccaEvansCreate
My name is Rebecca Evans, living in the New Forest I have been inspired to paint the many animals often seen around me. Having ridden since Childhood, painting equines was a natural path to follow.
I use a variety of media, watercolour, oil, charcoal, pastel, inks, plus a few more, infact I will try most things. Choosing the medium to work with can really change the effect of the art, and therefore the character of the animal. Sometimes it is an instant decision, sometimes it is the mood from within me which determines which medium I choose to use.
I never know what might inspire me next, but if it’s hairy, I will be sure to try.
Two of my very favorite animals-I love the quiet dignity of Roger and the very startled expression of Master Hare–beautiful works!

Thank you so much Margaret, I have actually painted this hare before, but much looser, it’s amazing how one photo can be interpreted so differently on different occasions, or different artists 😀
