My Easter break holiday is nearly over, I still need to do lots more on the oil paintings in readiness for the exhibition. Although it is not until the summer, I needed to use this two week break to prepare, or have paintings in process, but I have completed two large hares in watercolour and pastel. Thanks goes to Mike Rae, he has kindly given me permission to use his hare photographs as reference, although these two little trouble makers are not much like the originals. Meet Percy and Tetley.

About REcreate-RebeccaEvansCreate
My name is Rebecca Evans, living in the New Forest I have been inspired to paint the many animals often seen around me. Having ridden since Childhood, painting equines was a natural path to follow.
I use a variety of media, watercolour, oil, charcoal, pastel, inks, plus a few more, infact I will try most things. Choosing the medium to work with can really change the effect of the art, and therefore the character of the animal. Sometimes it is an instant decision, sometimes it is the mood from within me which determines which medium I choose to use.
I never know what might inspire me next, but if it’s hairy, I will be sure to try.
What fantastic names for these little troublemakers! Beautiful as always, subject and background; love Percy’s big eyes, so full of character and zeal.

Thank you Cathe, that is so lovely to hear, I just hope you don’t injure yourself when you get giddy, or I might be done for health and safety 🤕🐰

Rebecca!!! Just when I think you’ve stunned me all you can in one day! These are incredible! I never would have even thought of putting pastel over watercolor. These are seriously fab! You will do so well at this exhibition, unless everyone in England is mad crazy! I have to ask if you put any ground on top of the wc before adding the pastel? Love them both!!!

Thank you Laura, that means so much to me, a great thought to go to bed with 😃. I didn’t use any ground, however the watercolour paper was a single sheet I bought, I think it could have been arches? Rough, so it had a bit of a tooth. I did spray afterwards to preserve….hopefully? It was such a fun technique, I will hopefully be doing more, between these nearly complete oils, three left for completion, it sure is a slow process compared to these fun hares. I think I will try a dog next ( a hairy one) a lady on PMP has some great photos.
