Check out this website tribute to the talented David Ballantyne

When I was growing up in Highcliffe Dorset, I was lucky enough to be living next door to the talented David Ballantyne. I spent as many days as possible in his studio, and learnt so so much, I made many pots on his specialist wheels, learnt about mixing oxides glazes ( chemistry lesson out of school- wish I had paid a little more attention to that bit at the time). I watched him greeting some of his trade mark pieces, in quite a style of his own. He was my inspiration, the website that his family have created is truly brilliant, and for me a great walk down memory lane, and very happy times.

I have a few pieces of his work in my living room, they are all pieces that were his rejects that he personally gave to me so very special ( to me the rejects are worth more) lol especially as I remember him making them

About REcreate-RebeccaEvansCreate

My name is Rebecca Evans, living in the New Forest I have been inspired to paint the many animals often seen around me. Having ridden since Childhood, painting equines was a natural path to follow. I use a variety of media, watercolour, oil, charcoal, pastel, inks, plus a few more, infact I will try most things. Choosing the medium to work with can really change the effect of the art, and therefore the character of the animal. Sometimes it is an instant decision, sometimes it is the mood from within me which determines which medium I choose to use. I never know what might inspire me next, but if it’s hairy, I will be sure to try.
