I had a selection of japenese paper, ( mixed in with my origami papers. Some had flecks in ( like the handmade papers you can buy) I think it is called yushi. Also some bamboo, some shiraccaba, masa, hosho and kozo.
I decided to paint watercolour on them, mainly because I had no idea of what else to use them for, I decided it was better than binning them. After I made a complete mess, I left them to dry. I think they took to the watercolour remarkably well, after dry I decided to paint on one, of course a hare.

About REcreate-RebeccaEvansCreate
My name is Rebecca Evans, living in the New Forest I have been inspired to paint the many animals often seen around me. Having ridden since Childhood, painting equines was a natural path to follow.
I use a variety of media, watercolour, oil, charcoal, pastel, inks, plus a few more, infact I will try most things. Choosing the medium to work with can really change the effect of the art, and therefore the character of the animal. Sometimes it is an instant decision, sometimes it is the mood from within me which determines which medium I choose to use.
I never know what might inspire me next, but if it’s hairy, I will be sure to try.
Great texture with this paper

Thanks Cynthia, yes I thought so too, which enhances a basic pen sketch, it’s always good to throw in some adorable colours that I don’t usually use often, washes are a perfect place to get colourful, in my brown world 😀

I think it’s really beautiful Rebecca. It’s a hare in a cool colorful snowstorm.

Thank you Laura….I like that idea, snowstorm, I will have to remember that for another painting, in fact maybe a hare in the snow?

Thank you Charlie, it was also nice and quick, although that could be down to the tiny piece of paper, unlike the A3 I usually use. My daughter even loved this….no criticism today, I jumped up and down like an excited child ( or chimpanzee, there were a few loud animal shreeks).
