‘Harry’ watercolour hedgehog

Here in the uk, the weather has eventually remembered that it is winter. Having had such mild weather, we have had many spring bulbs flowering in December. Sadly the hedgehogs, also thinking it was Spring, we’re not in hibernation. Now the frosts and cold have shown, it could cause a problem for many ,this really will not help their depleting numbers over the past decades. Here is my happier hedgehog, ‘Harry’. In watercolour.

About REcreate-RebeccaEvansCreate

My name is Rebecca Evans, living in the New Forest I have been inspired to paint the many animals often seen around me. Having ridden since Childhood, painting equines was a natural path to follow. I use a variety of media, watercolour, oil, charcoal, pastel, inks, plus a few more, infact I will try most things. Choosing the medium to work with can really change the effect of the art, and therefore the character of the animal. Sometimes it is an instant decision, sometimes it is the mood from within me which determines which medium I choose to use. I never know what might inspire me next, but if it’s hairy, I will be sure to try.

  5. love this too. When I visited a friend in the UK, we were introduced to a hedgie meandering through her garden. This brought back that memory to me. Thank you.

    • Thank you, I named him Harry after the hedgie we rescued from my neighbours bin! He had mistakenly crawled in, I heard rustling and at first thought it was a rat! When I ripped open the bag, there was this cute prickly ball, we gave him some cat food for his troubles, and off he went on his merry way.

  9. Thank you. Luckily my dog leaves hedgehogs alone….she prefers to chase rabbits, but I know some dogs are fascinated by the cute critters.
