The start of my new journal/ book Coptic binding

Backing journal pageimageI have at last started two books using the digital kit by tsunami rose ( etsy) one book I began creating using an old childs hard back book, with each page stuck with decopatch glue, or mod podge would work fine. the next journal I printed on300 gsm card stock, and on both sides, using the backing journal page I then distressed the edges of the pages. Vintage flowersnext step was a littlDistressed edgese tricky ( especially having cats) Coimageptic binding. I worked out how many signatures I had( groups of folded pages in bundles) I had three sheets of card, when folded that was six pages. i worked out how much wax cord I needed and followed a you tube tutorial. By sea lemon. Off I went stitching away, I could not have done it without this brilliant tutorial. Now time to decorate, tsunami rose also includes many additional embellishments in the kit, so you don’t need to go hunting for matching bits if you don’t want to. I will add lace, doilies, old jewellery pieces, tickets and much more. I will update you later with this. i made I created some lovely flowers which will be attached to the front of the journal, using a variety of floral dies, including spellbinders sun kissed fleur spellbinders vintage floret spellbinders jewel flowers and flourishes spellbinders bitty blossoms spellbinders aster flower spellbinders spiral blossom one Tattered lace mini blooms tattered lace venetian floral I used the tsunami rose papers, once cut I arranged the dies into sets to create some unusual flower combinations, mixing and matching sets. I then used a ball tool to shape the petals, the ball tool helps as it breaks the fibres in the card, making shaping easier,.I used pinflair glue to stick together. Once dry I spritzed with a water, isopropyl ( rubbing alcohol) and a few drops of fantastix ( a great subtle addition for some sparkle made by tsukineko ) the rubbing alcohol helps it set and adhear to the card…….. A little more scrunching and shaping while wet, and then left to dry.i then added some pearls to some flowers. Old childs hard back book, now upcycledCharming fragments

About REcreate-RebeccaEvansCreate

My name is Rebecca Evans, living in the New Forest I have been inspired to paint the many animals often seen around me. Having ridden since Childhood, painting equines was a natural path to follow. I use a variety of media, watercolour, oil, charcoal, pastel, inks, plus a few more, infact I will try most things. Choosing the medium to work with can really change the effect of the art, and therefore the character of the animal. Sometimes it is an instant decision, sometimes it is the mood from within me which determines which medium I choose to use. I never know what might inspire me next, but if it’s hairy, I will be sure to try.
