Last week the news covered the sad capture of chimp babies, to then be sold on as domestic pets, it was so upsetting seeing this poor creature seperated from its family (They are killed in the process) and stripped of a free wild life as nature had intended.
You can see the article here on the BBC news, with a video clip .
I decided to paint one of these beautiful creatures, I used ink and bleach, on 140lb coldpress 12×9″ I have called it ‘saved’.

About REcreate-RebeccaEvansCreate
My name is Rebecca Evans, living in the New Forest I have been inspired to paint the many animals often seen around me. Having ridden since Childhood, painting equines was a natural path to follow.
I use a variety of media, watercolour, oil, charcoal, pastel, inks, plus a few more, infact I will try most things. Choosing the medium to work with can really change the effect of the art, and therefore the character of the animal. Sometimes it is an instant decision, sometimes it is the mood from within me which determines which medium I choose to use.
I never know what might inspire me next, but if it’s hairy, I will be sure to try.
Beautiful painting…..and what sad news! I had no idea 😦

An absolutely beautiful painting. It is sad that greed and money can drive such cruelty in people.

Lovely lovely painting! Can I ask – how do you use bleach with ink? It sounds amazing.

Thank you,mor course, it’s simple really, you either paint with ink and then use the b,each for highlights…or smother the whole page in ink, and paint out the painting in bleach. Different inks produce different changes of colour, some white out, some go brown, yellow etc, it’s a good idea to test the inks you have before hand, oh some inks don’t change at all. Lastly use an old brush! If you type bleach in my search bar you can see some of the other paintings I have done and the variety of looks it gives, hope this helps 😀

Thank you Kerfe I just wish we could all do more in educating people…but I fear even this would not stop the terrible acts that we inflict on nature 😕
