30#worldwatercolormonth ‘some quick practice’

I am wondering if anybody has some spare time to help me out, I am thinking of getting some greeting cards printed, about four image designs, my problem is deciding which would be the best pictures to have as a card design, and which are the most versatile images people may wish to purchase at Hampshire open studio. So if anybody has some time to spare,to take a look at my gallery of subjects, and possibly list roughly five images you like, in my replies, I can then decided the top four to get printed. Thank you in advance for your time, I am at a stumbling block with this decision.

Todays posts are more of a play with mediums, the first is ‘ Hettie’ , painted on home made claybord using ink and watercolour, then the mane scratched into the board. A little rough and ready, but I wanted to try out the scratching technique, and I must say I was surprised at how effective it was.

Pastel, charcoal and watercolour, Arab horse study, watercolour paper coated with handmade claybord

The second is an Arab study, this is on watercolour paper, coated in my home made claybord paste ( pva, White acrylic and China clay AKA kaolinite) I was going to use just charcoal on this, but it went wrong, so I added watercolour and then some pastels ( soft) . Really this was a waste of a good piece of watercolour paper, the claybord mix is best used on a hardboard.

have a great day all, the sun is out here in the uk, yippee 😀

About REcreate-RebeccaEvansCreate

My name is Rebecca Evans, living in the New Forest I have been inspired to paint the many animals often seen around me. Having ridden since Childhood, painting equines was a natural path to follow. I use a variety of media, watercolour, oil, charcoal, pastel, inks, plus a few more, infact I will try most things. Choosing the medium to work with can really change the effect of the art, and therefore the character of the animal. Sometimes it is an instant decision, sometimes it is the mood from within me which determines which medium I choose to use. I never know what might inspire me next, but if it’s hairy, I will be sure to try.

  1. I bet it would be impossible for me to narrow down to only four. Wish I had more time. What if you posted your top 10 or 20 favorites and put it up to a vote? I’m so glad you’re contemplating this!! I was showing your work to my husband this morning and he is so wowed also. You’ll be a smashing success!!

  2. love these two…..even if the second one went wrong for a spell, you got it going. The first one is so sweet and very horsey and my favorite. And yet, the second one has that proud Arab stance. I will take a look and put my vote in but I can’t do it until Monday or Tuesday. I have family coming over today and then next Wednesday. How soon were you hoping to make your decisions?

I am ever in awe at the effectiveness of your hair! Always having a good hair day! 😉

I have just had a look through and I can see why you’re struggling – I am too. So many candidates! I think Laura’s idea of a vote from a select pool might be beneficial, or at least it’d allow me to be more help!
