Todays post is yet another practice of a horse watercolour …..sorry to bore you, but this painting every day is a huge learning curve and great opportunity to try hard with these horses, especially in movement, something I would usually avoid. This is 9×12″ cold press 140 lb.

‘Pony power 3’ watercolour 9×12 arches cold press 140 lb.

About REcreate-RebeccaEvansCreate
My name is Rebecca Evans, living in the New Forest I have been inspired to paint the many animals often seen around me. Having ridden since Childhood, painting equines was a natural path to follow.
I use a variety of media, watercolour, oil, charcoal, pastel, inks, plus a few more, infact I will try most things. Choosing the medium to work with can really change the effect of the art, and therefore the character of the animal. Sometimes it is an instant decision, sometimes it is the mood from within me which determines which medium I choose to use.
I never know what might inspire me next, but if it’s hairy, I will be sure to try.
I can “hear” him pawing the ground and getting ready to jump through the paper- wonderfully done!

Thank you Cynthia, I feel I am getting there with the feet, hoofs are my problem, so this practice is all helping 😀

OH! Love this…great composition, strong sense of a captured moment of movement. Love the shadows and arrested motion of the mane. Brilliant!

Thank you, I really enjoyed this one, it’s like for every one that goes ok, the next goes a little off plan, so all this practice in getting the slightly more control of the watercolour, while keeping it looking fluidise is what I am after?? I think…watercolour can be confusing??

Awww your so kind, I am really enjoying this time to practice, and practice more, horses can be so awkward and I do feel like I am slowly getting there with improving in the whole body of the horse, showing movement, rather than the portrait style head and neck 😀

Lots of movement in these, for sure. (K)

Seriously. Never boring. Never. And I’d have never imagined you had trouble with hooves. Your horses are spot on, as are all of your animals. You’re pretty amazing Rebecca. Not that I’m saying anything new! I need a thesaurus!
