I thought I should join in with inktober and post a few of my ink paintings, I have to admit I found it a little messy after the first painting, so had a little clean up…lets just say the bleach got the art bug, anyone would think my house had been deep cleaned, but the stinky stuff had gone no further than the paper for my next two paintings. this was so much fun, but it is a good idea to keep well ventilated, doors open, and a few breaks to get away fron the smell. I also used a couple of old brushes, as I can’t imagine it would do the expensive ones any good…..even if they appear clean after the meeting!

Love these, and to me I love how you have that rider sitting just right, you can feel the connection between horse and rider in your painting. Now…..correct me if I wrong, you used bleach in your painting process? this is entirely new to me!

Thank you Margaret, I was not happy when I painted the top one at the beginning of October, I hid it from sight, and I now feel ok about it, time is amazing. Yes regards to the bleach, I used a thick bleach, from the supermarket ( tesco own) any should work. I painted the whole sheet with ink ( prior to this I did swatches to see which of my inks reacted to bleach) it was the calligraphy inks that worked , even some of my coloured inks worked! For these I used Parker quink ink and dashes of some of the coloured inks I tried, ( they are unbranded, I have no idea where I got them from). Then out came the bleach and paint away to see the magic happen, colour wiped away before your eyes, if a little hap hazard, but that was part of the charm 😀

Thank you, it was a little strange for me to be painting with cleaning products, but I think the bleach is more useful to me in painting than cleaning!

Yes really, who would have thought, then again the stuff has wrecked so many items of clothing, stripping the colour, it had to do some good having that power in the art world 😀
