Today I was still busy with the oils, so I grabbed one of my home made claybords to paint on, the watercolour does not behave brilliantly on this surface, but the look is loose, and can create some nice effects, not so sure I like it for this dog, so I will re visit this one later on some conventional watercolour surface. This is a Sicilian greyhound, I really love this breed, maybe some day I will have one?

The next painting is for a friend, this is the gorgeous Crystal, a miniature black poodle, she is quite elderly now, but you would never know as she still bounces around like a puppy. I only had a very small picture of her, so it was hard to see details for her eye especially. Happy day 14 for all of you world watercolour people and bloggers 😀

Thank you Debi, I think ink could work better, I might try the fabric dye, it was easy to make, just need China clay, some pva and a little white acrylic to whiten it, you can then make any surface paintable….ish?

If you google the recipie there is a great post from a gentleman using rabbit glue instead, I just can’t recall the website.

The clayboard gives a wonderful fresco effect. I could see this in an ancient Roman villa…(K)

Thank you, nearly by heart…..but not with horses, their eyes are always a struggle, oh and the feet ( hooves) for me anyhow.

Ah, two more wonderful portraits-at first glance, the greyhound appeared to be a Pharoah Hound which are amazingly elegant creatures (like greyhounds!)-I am in awe of your talent in capturing an animal’s essence-Beautiful, beautiful work!

Well you could be forgiven for your guess at first glance, as this breed are indeed often confused with the pharaoh hound ( which I also adore) there are many similarities with the two breeds. So pleased you like them ❤️
