My name is Rebecca Evans, living in the New Forest I have been inspired to paint the many animals often seen around me. Having ridden since Childhood, painting equines was a natural path to follow.
I use a variety of media, watercolour, oil, charcoal, pastel,inks, plus a few more, infact I will try most things. Choosing the medium to work with can really change the effect of the art, and therefore the character of the animal. Sometimes it is an instant decision, sometimes it is the mood from within me which determines which medium I choose to use.
Surrounded by animals and wildlife, I never know what might inspire me next. The distinguished hare, the grace and beauty of the horse or the characterful dog.

Thank you Anne, I could not imagine living anywhere too far from the forest. When riding on our ponies you get to see wildlife in a completely different way( mainly because it does not run off).
I totally agree with your tree statement, I have an amazement around trees that I do not understand, there is so much mystery about trees, the things they see, the life they give, right down th their amazing structure. My downstairs toilet( which appears to be featuring a lot in my blog at the moment) is decorated with photos I have taken, all of them the most peculiar shaped trees I have found locally, I think it looks great.

I really adore your horse paintings…… And I am taking on your comment about watercolour, letting the water do the job of painting ( as many time I have been heard saying watercolour is harder, and not very forgiving, eeek) I will try and play more with it in the future, as I have only done a few, that being a horse of course. Thank you for visiting “the everyday art of an Artist”. You are so fortunate to live in such a beautiful setting. Your love of animals shows in your work. I am all for bouncing around and trying different media. It opens your eyes to so many possibilities. Don’t worry about the knitting. Each year I struggle to knit a scarf!

I certainly do bounce from crafts and media, painting has stayed for 8 months, which is a record, my daughter laughs as I try out new crafts, I think you can’t get enough as you discover ways to incorporate crafts into new discoveries, some of my flashes of craft genre have included, Fimo fairies, felting, mosaic, glass work, candle making etc…..well all these products can be used to create mixed media art, so no waste I tell her….I always wanted to knit in metal, but it was a total failure.

Hi Rebecca, I’m so glad you came by the Art Prescription so I could hop over and see your wonderful work. Love your horses! I only have 1 horse, but help care for a herd of 12. Thank you Marco, I will look forward to seeing your wonderful photography, your birds are fantastic, I don’t paint them often, due to the perfect detail of the feathers, I opt more for the rough hairy creatures, but I love all creatures, just the same.

Hi vicki, thank you, and welcome, glad to hear that there are other dabblers! Out there. I need a bigger house to home all my stuff from the variety of crafts I attempt….although painting took over in 2015 after many years of not picking up a brush, and I am still loving the challenge, I think it will be staying my priority for 2016, with card making 😀
