Feeling foxy

Here are a number of my latest creations, a bit of a fox theme going on 😀.

I have been experimenting with some different papers, and I must admit to a new favourite being suede mat board, I love the soft finish, and it is great to work on with pastel and coloured pencil, I did a few test pieces on the offcuts and decided that using fixative was a good idea. The velvet soft texture of the card is Gorgeous, and I think my iPad camera picked up the texture so you can see that it gives a great background.

The other new card I have been trying is pastelmat board by clairefontaine, again I am really impressed, it takes watercolour pencils really well, and handled the small amounts of water fine. The pads come in a selection of different colour choices, just hard to choose which one to go with. I now have two pads as the first time I purchased a small pad by accident, I thought it was sized in inches….it was centimetres!

My mixed media hare was a great play time experiment, originally he was a charcoal, I then decided to use oil on watercolour card, seems ok, and it’s great to have fun with products.

I am in the process of completing some oil paintings, they take me ages, so between them I grab out the other supplies, I hope to show you the oils as soon as possible, hopefully there will be some chance of painting during the Christmas holidays.

About REcreate-RebeccaEvansCreate

My name is Rebecca Evans, living in the New Forest I have been inspired to paint the many animals often seen around me. Having ridden since Childhood, painting equines was a natural path to follow. I use a variety of media, watercolour, oil, charcoal, pastel, inks, plus a few more, infact I will try most things. Choosing the medium to work with can really change the effect of the art, and therefore the character of the animal. Sometimes it is an instant decision, sometimes it is the mood from within me which determines which medium I choose to use. I never know what might inspire me next, but if it’s hairy, I will be sure to try.

Hey you! Oh my, I LOVE all of these! The foxes look absolutely majestic. Great background on ‘Vision’, too, those patches of blue add so much.

Hope all is well 🙂 If I don’t catch you beforehand, I hope you have a great Christmas – one with plenty of time to paint!

    • Thank you Jacob, it’s great to pop in now and again, with limited time I have decided not to put the extra pressure of posting regularly, but just when I can, I am sad about it but it’s the least stressful compromise to myself 😀 I really enjoyed ‘Vision’ being free to place marks wherever I choose, without constraints on colour, so much more interesting. I hope you and your family have a great Christmas too, keep warm in the snow, we don’t have any down here in the south! I am planning to paint lots over Christmas, oh and ride on the forest if the weather stays kind 😀

I hear that – it can be a full-time job posting on here, not to mention keeping up with others. It’s great to see you pop up and surprise us anytime!

Thanks so much. We’ve had a couple of dustings here in Yarmouth, but nothing all that impressive – I’d like some, it’d make me feel a bit more festive! Hope it’s kind to you over the holiday! Keep on paintin’ 🙂
