I have often been inspired by others posting photos of their wonderful studio/ work spaces, beautiful and spacious, tidy with glorious views. I imagine myself in such a space, gazing out to the outdoors, a sanctuary for ones passion, hobby, feeling full of ideas, I would be ready to paint.
well my space is not quite this way, but it is still my little sanctuary, and the place for my inspiration. My space is my living room, although you may wonder how this is possible? I used to keep one side as the craft/art side, but paintings are creeping to the living room side, (while the oil dries they have to stand somewhere). I don’t have much room so ‘stuff’ is piled high. Everything has a place, labelled boxes, inks, watercolour, oil, craft stamps, die cutters, the list goes on, but it just about fits. Oh how I wish for a bigger space, one where I have a single studio to spread out and not feel cluttered, oh and to have my living room back…..but I am happy to stay this way, life for me would be dull without art and craft. So here is MY SPACE small and packed, what is your space like? Oh and I forgot to mention, thank goodness for IKEA 😀

Thank you for sharing this Rebecca-I love seeing where other artists do their *magic*-I remember reading how one quilting artist worked on her bed–after her six children were asleep, she would spread her fabrics out to work with- That was her time and space to create-

Thank you Susan….thank you, so pleased you like ‘ping pong’ cute little pony …just noticed now the light is on, I need to change the colour of one of his hooves, far too straw yellow, looks so odd now in false light, grrr.

I remember having to do art in the living room! When my daughter was moving her stuff out getting ready for her first home (getting married), I was helping her with such a ferocity. I was so darn excited that I was antsy to get her out so I could set up my studio! We still joke about it. So fun to see photos of your set-up and how you manage in such a compact area.

Thank you Cynthia, most of the supplies that take up room are the card making, general crafting stuff, amazing really that the painting stuff is just a few small boxes, oil, watercolour, pastel, ink….then the paper pads…..although my downstairs toilet is full of previously painted canvases 😀

I love your space and seeing all your drying art. Your horses are just so beautiful! Thank you for sharing it. My space is a table in my office/guest room but it works for me.

Thank you Teri, the actual space I paint on is a collapsible table, unless it is a large canvas, then I use an easel 😀

Ohh boy don’t know how I missed this post, Thank God I got it now! Love to see the stages of oil painting. Oh yes Thanks for sharing your work space. I love seeing photos of fellow artist work spaces though I don’t have my own I just have a drawing board and 2-3 ikea cointainers with my art supplies 😀 Hope in future I’ll have it.

You are welcome Snehal, a few boxes is how my craft stash started, more appeared, next my dining table went, and hello IKEA storage, to be honest I don’t miss the dining table, I get so mush more out of painting 😀
