Playing with plants

After having a tidy up in the garden, I decided that the leaves I was about to bin could be put to some good use. The fern painting was created by pressing it through my die cutter onto watercolour paper, I then added watercolour paint in a variety of colours. It was very cheap watercolour paper, and I had forgotten how much difference decent paper makes, the colour was nearly ready  for mud, but it was so much fun…I may try something similar with some decent paper soon. The second was leaves from a black current bush ( smelt lovely) this time I coated the vein side of the leaf with watercolour paint, then pressed onto the paper, like a stamp, I then added some colours to the leaves, this was a better quality paper, so took the paint more efficiently. A huge amount of fun with paint and gardening today.

About REcreate-RebeccaEvansCreate

My name is Rebecca Evans, living in the New Forest I have been inspired to paint the many animals often seen around me. Having ridden since Childhood, painting equines was a natural path to follow. I use a variety of media, watercolour, oil, charcoal, pastel, inks, plus a few more, infact I will try most things. Choosing the medium to work with can really change the effect of the art, and therefore the character of the animal. Sometimes it is an instant decision, sometimes it is the mood from within me which determines which medium I choose to use. I never know what might inspire me next, but if it’s hairy, I will be sure to try.

  2. I agree….very dreamy and the fact that you used Saunders for the second one….wow….perfect paper choice for this style and subject. What is very impressive is that you had a light touch and didn’t kill with over handiness, if that is the term.
