25#worldwatercolormonth’pony power 2′

I am in good time for the 25 post of the month, and world watercolour month. This is pony power 2, after my pony power 1 post ( see previous post). I wanted to create a softer look, I thought the last one had too much contrast, so had a go at improving, and stopping at a Conveinient time….put that brush down, I keep repeating to myself.

Pony power 2, arches cold press 140 lb 9×12″ block. Much happier with this one, I do struggle with this small size, especially the eyes, and some facial features, it’s just so small.

About REcreate-RebeccaEvansCreate

My name is Rebecca Evans, living in the New Forest I have been inspired to paint the many animals often seen around me. Having ridden since Childhood, painting equines was a natural path to follow. I use a variety of media, watercolour, oil, charcoal, pastel, inks, plus a few more, infact I will try most things. Choosing the medium to work with can really change the effect of the art, and therefore the character of the animal. Sometimes it is an instant decision, sometimes it is the mood from within me which determines which medium I choose to use. I never know what might inspire me next, but if it’s hairy, I will be sure to try.

  1. I agree…..softer, with a lighter touch which brings more personality, very nice….what were the colors used? I keep thinking that I need to list my colors with my posts, I keep forgetting to.

  2. This is lovely!! I tend to really push contrast and this is an inspiring reminder to stay lighter sometimes! Beautifully done!

    • Yes it is funny really, as I was painting the first, I would watch parts drying, obviously lighter, and I kept thinking ..oh needs more contrast there, add a bit more, etc etc….then eventually when I had stopped, and it was completely dry, I just thought, eeek, well I might try to revisit this one do day, and see what happens 😀

  4. I always stare at your paintings and say to myself “I don’t know how she does it” – just amazing work. I love the way the horse fades into the picture, hoof by hoof. Really beautiful, Rebecca. I need a thesaurus or something, running out of ways to keep saying the same thing, but I do love staring at your work!
