‘Hare-raising enounter’ ink and watercolour, hare and hound

For my #nature doodlewash today I found nature was in trouble, with this hare hot tailing it away from this persistent hound. By the way as I painted it, I can tell you that the hare escapes, and nature wins. ( for anybody worried no hare was injured in today’s  blog post, it is all fictional and I put the two animals together to create this hare-raising encounter). I used my lamy pen, and WNewton watercolours.

About REcreate-RebeccaEvansCreate

My name is Rebecca Evans, living in the New Forest I have been inspired to paint the many animals often seen around me. Having ridden since Childhood, painting equines was a natural path to follow. I use a variety of media, watercolour, oil, charcoal, pastel, inks, plus a few more, infact I will try most things. Choosing the medium to work with can really change the effect of the art, and therefore the character of the animal. Sometimes it is an instant decision, sometimes it is the mood from within me which determines which medium I choose to use. I never know what might inspire me next, but if it’s hairy, I will be sure to try.

Definitely has that sense of ‘can’t look’ that the real-life moment would have for me, but the knowledge that the hare will always win allows me to behold the spectacle (ish!). Awesome work all round Rebecca – I especially like the flickers of grass. The straight terrain almost makes it look as if they’re going to charge off the page – very clever!
