‘Mr Fisher’ watercolour and pastel seagull

My gosh I have surprised myself, this is the second piece I have finished today ( both dog – last post and seagull were started during the week) such light relief after the go slow nature of oil painting. This seagull came about when my friend James asked if I had painted one? Um, no, but anything is possible, so here he is, ‘Mr Fisher’, named aptly after James himself.

About REcreate-RebeccaEvansCreate

My name is Rebecca Evans, living in the New Forest I have been inspired to paint the many animals often seen around me. Having ridden since Childhood, painting equines was a natural path to follow. I use a variety of media, watercolour, oil, charcoal, pastel, inks, plus a few more, infact I will try most things. Choosing the medium to work with can really change the effect of the art, and therefore the character of the animal. Sometimes it is an instant decision, sometimes it is the mood from within me which determines which medium I choose to use. I never know what might inspire me next, but if it’s hairy, I will be sure to try.

  1. Wow! Look at you go! Impressive day! Love this… the light on that bird is fantastic and love the shadow (and color!) as well. 😍

  2. Beautiful! Love the sense of movement and lighting. Mr Fisher looks a bit sassy, like a seagull would. Delightful, thank you for sharing.

Awesome! Such a happy looking “Mr. Fisher” too. Perhaps up to a bit of no good as only a gull could. 🙂

  7. Rebecca, you painted me! I am so impressed, and what a terrific likeness, even if you’re calling me mister right now lol! Seriously though I just love seagulls and this one is beautiful! Pastels on top of wc, is there any limit to what you can do??? Did you put a ground on top the wc for the pastel to cling to? Gorgeous work, and the colors & composition are tres fab, my friend! ❤

    • Ahhh, so your surname, I didn’t realise. In that case you are my best critique for this one, I will be doing more in the near future, as my friend would like some examples to possibly put on his upholstery stand, it could boost the look to their work, if it compliments the themes of furnishings, either country or nautical. Living in the new forest we are lucky to have the country and the sea, so many people favour home decor to feature these.
