This one I thought I would post for Laura at create art every day, it is actually one of my base layers on canvas, ready for an oil painting, I have five others, all very different, in style and colour. My daughter came down and loved it, I then realised that I had infact engaged in the act of abstract work, it was an amazing moment while in the zone, choosing the colours, kinda deciding where paint should go, but really letting it do its thing. I enjoyed creating all six backgrounds, each one made me think differently, I just hope that when I paint over them , I can do them justice. I don’t know what they will be yet, I thought it best to decide once dry, I am sure the feeling will come to me. I am not a great planner, more of what takes me at that moment.

Funny you should say that jodi, my daughter muttered exactly the same, we shall see what happens, I was thinking of a bee?? But things could change.

I hope so jodi, I do have a twinkle of an idea…not too much or I feel let down if it does not go to plan, best to go with the flow I think.

Oh! At this point it kind of looks like old tattered fabric hanging over a boarded up window. This should be interesting!

Oh yes…I need to photograph all the other backgrounds, but they are drying in the shed, I will do though.

Rebecca! Oh I love it! I’m so sorry, I’m still out sick and haven’t been blogging barely at all or I’d have seen this sooner. Yay for abstracts, you’re a natural, girl! Not that I’m shocking anyone with that statement. Wow. I love the texture in this! This is all oils? Man I really love it, I would almost be afraid to mess it up. The thing I really have trouble with in my abstract stuff is a focal point. I just go where the feelings take me and try not to think, try to stay out of the way of the flow of the paint. And that’s the only thing I feel might need playing up a bit in this? I could be totally off base, what do I know, really but yes! I’m so glad you are dipping your toe in the abstract pool! Have you watched Debora Stewart on Artist Network yet? I know you had wanted to at one point. Loving this, I hope we see more abstracts! So glad you had fun just letting one color call out to another. Awesome!

Get well soon Laura, we really miss you, I didn’t subscribe, but I did check out some YouTube tutorials, and she is very inspiring, and certainly makes it look easier than it is. My problem is being limited to painting in the living room, meaning I can’t be as free as I would like, splashing paint everywhere, could be a problem for my rugs, even though I cover as much as I can lol.

Lol I totally understand. She really does make it look so easy. I do believe if everyone watched her, we’d all be buying pastel sets. Would be nice to fling paint at the canvas as she sometimes does too! 💙

Maybe when I have a day off and the weather is good, I can take the easel outside and fling paint! Only worry will be the cats walking on the painted grass?

Mmmm, that’s a thought, but probably not, I usually get straight on it. You never know I might play safe and do another hare?? But a bee would look better with the background.

It is a window scene, I can totally see the window. Through gauzy curtains and I see the snow. This rocks!

It’s so funny how things can look when sploshing paint on, it’s still drying, but I will decided what to paint over it…..most of the background will still show through, my thoughts are still with a bee, when the white is covered, I hope it will appear like dripping honey, we shall see 😀
