I totally forgot to do a blog post on this large oil hare, hopefully he will be in my Hampshire open studio sale, this coming August. Many thanks to Mike Rae for the kind use of his reference photo. He is a talented photographer, and specialises in wildlife, with a huge collection of hares, I feel privaledged to have been allowed to use his photos as reference. Although I do not sell my work at the moment, if ( I should say when) I sell any work in the future I will donate a percentage to ovarian cancer research, and maybe some other cancer charities. This is a charity we both agreed deserves all the support it can get, my way of saying thank you for the use of the photos.

I love this woebegone creature. So much personality. And thank you for your choice of charities if/when you sell your work. My grandmother and mother both died from ovarian cancer.

Thank you, ovarian cancer is one of the lesser supported cancer charities, so it feels like the right thing to do…just got ra get selling now, which is the biggest of hurdles to me.

Thank you Jacob, it’s a bit different from my usual, I think this is the biggest oil painting I have done, although I have done bigger in watercolour, I think this over faced me, and I really very nearly packed it in, decided I had gone so far that it deserved to be finished, I think the hares pose helped in that it is quite comical, so pretty happy in the end, even if it is not quite like I usually do.

Thank you Vicki, it is a super cute expression, he could be saying all sorts with that look. It’s a great photo of Mike Rae’s. I could not resist it. Hopefully if I sell anything at the August Hampshire open studios, I will have made that climb over a big hill for the first time?

He is, I can’t thank mike enough, as his photos are amazing, I just hope when I do get into selling, I can send him a note telling him I have sold loads and donated thousands to ovarian research, what a fantastic dreamer I have become😉 would be great though
