Today has been hectic, I had a puncture, by the time I sorted out a new tyre change. I really could not be bothered in getting out paint, water, brushes, nor waiting for the paint to dry. Instead I opted for dry mediums. First I finished my Tom Hardy stipple picture, fun but I needed colour, problem solved, pastels…dry, and colourful. I did two hares, one is very blended, the other a little rough round the edges, which I do like. In the future I may add a little to the face portrait hare, but for now I am happy with her.

My name is Rebecca Evans, living in the New Forest I have been inspired to paint the many animals often seen around me. Having ridden since Childhood, painting equines was a natural path to follow.
I use a variety of media, watercolour, oil, charcoal, pastel,inks, plus a few more, infact I will try most things. Choosing the medium to work with can really change the effect of the art, and therefore the character of the animal. Sometimes it is an instant decision, sometimes it is the mood from within me which determines which medium I choose to use.
I never know what might inspire me next, but if it’s hairy, I will be sure to try.

Thank you Sharon, it is great for the hares, I love the way pastels blend, thankfully I don’t have carpet in my living room, so it is easy to vacuum up after.

For me the coloured paper makes a huge difference, the first few goes on normal white just did not have as much impact, so pleased I bought a pad, and it was not too expensive, plus you get loads of sheets, I prefer the a3 as I am not good at fine detail yet with pastels, larger works better for me.

Thank you judy, you are right, lots of dust, but I don’t have carpet in my living room, so I just fold up my collapsible table and vacuum!
