This was originally a watercolour that had gone wrong ( in my opinion) so as I had my charcoal and pastels out, I decided to give it a makeover. I think they have helped revive it. The biggest problem I had, was that this watercolour was started on some cheap student grade watercolour paper, it was so thin, and the paint was not great on the thin card. Lesson learned, stick to the good stuff!

My name is Rebecca Evans, living in the New Forest I have been inspired to paint the many animals often seen around me. Having ridden since Childhood, painting equines was a natural path to follow.
I use a variety of media, watercolour, oil, charcoal, pastel,inks, plus a few more, infact I will try most things. Choosing the medium to work with can really change the effect of the art, and therefore the character of the animal. Sometimes it is an instant decision, sometimes it is the mood from within me which determines which medium I choose to use.
I never know what might inspire me next, but if it’s hairy, I will be sure to try.

He is, and I love the cheeky pose. They are crazy creatures, and quite athletic. I have always wanted a Pygmy goat. Maybe if I win the lottery?

Awww your comment has made my morning, just woken up, had not wanted to go out in the cold to muck out, but now I feel I could conquer the world (well almost) you have made a difference, so thank you, my daughter had been nagging me last night to be more positive about my art, I went to bed feeling a little lost! 😀

Don’t feel lost. I admire your work greatly and love what you did with the cows – how you work on the kind of paper you do, and your variety is wonderful too. Thank you,fantastic that you are going to try pastels, I think they are handy to have in a collection of stash, and great to use in combo with other mediums too.big plus for me is I can use them in front of the tv, with a little fold table, no water that the cats can knock over!
