I have had a really great weekend of painting, I started with my safety blanket of a hare head, and a small hare A4 size, both on 140lb. I bought a small A4 watercolour block, I don’t usually paint on A4, but decided to give it a try, as I am thinking of making a big step and selling some paintings. Up to now the only paintings I have sold are, to friends and family that have liked something I have done, or friends and family requesting a commision piece, usually of pets. The other sales have been through a charity auction for our local hospice, which thankfully my submission made better than I thought it would, which was a great ego boost, even if I didn’t personally benefit to my pocket, I benefitted in having a beaming smile for weeks.
I also bought some new watercolour paint ( to compliment my fav colours of the week which I had)
Windsor and Newton prof series 1 violet
Windsor and Newton prof series 4 cobalt violet
Windsor and Newton artists series 4 cobalt turquoise
Windsor and Newton artists series A transparent turquoise ( already had)
Windsor and Newton cotman series 1 turquoise (already had)
here are my two hares, Cutsie Hare and Wishful Wait
You are so wonderful with your animals. Really great. And I think it’s a big challenge also!! Well done!

Thank you Laura, you should give it a go, your flower is beautiful, and I paint my animals in a similar way. My technique is simple-Don’t think of painting an animal, paint the patterns of colour that you see ( that’s what I do, right or wrong)

Thank you, I usually paint on quite large sheets, so this was a little challenge on A4, if I am to sell I want postal as easy as possible while I test the waters so to speak. Larger would require a postal tube, roll thingy, which I am not sure about for rolling the watercolour card, I am sure I will learn, the pros and cons to selling, if I ever get started
