Just before going to bed last night I had a little play with some blue ish mix of watercolour I had left in my palette, so I created a wash and added some alcohol drops, ( rubbing alcohol, not the tasty version) then in the next I added alcohol, gold paint and some salt ( I think the salt lost the alcohol effect, too much of a good thing, better to use one or other). Great to have a play, and I can see I will use this for a wash in the future.

My name is Rebecca Evans, living in the New Forest I have been inspired to paint the many animals often seen around me. Having ridden since Childhood, painting equines was a natural path to follow.
I use a variety of media, watercolour, oil, charcoal, pastel,inks, plus a few more, infact I will try most things. Choosing the medium to work with can really change the effect of the art, and therefore the character of the animal. Sometimes it is an instant decision, sometimes it is the mood from within me which determines which medium I choose to use.
I never know what might inspire me next, but if it’s hairy, I will be sure to try.

Thank you, I am not sure either yet, I have gone blank, I had great ideas to paint all day when I am on holiday, but alas the creative moments are still late at night! Lol still having a play with paint is useful, to keep stored for the right moment. I would like to paint a person, as I usually avoid, yours are amazing, and your blog has inspired me to paint a face, I have collected a few pictures I like from paint my photo ( pmp-art.com) I did it a few weeks ago but still can’t start, I just keep playing safe with furries. I might try the background with a ballarina? It could work well.

Rebecca, I feel your pain, really I do. I keep going through periods of creative fog where I just can’t seem to get inspired! The portrait that I recently did on my blog started out like that where I just couldn’t think what to paint but I started with the background and just kept going. I had absolutely no intention of painting a face at all when I started!
Sometimes it’s scary moving outside your comfort zone but the worst case scenario is that you end up with a piece of paper destined for the bin!!! I think a ballerina would look great on the background (says she who’s terrified of drawing figures 🙂 !)

Ahh well the idea in my head of the ballerina is a fantastic one, the reality if I do attempt it will probably be totally different? I have a jar, full of quotes, all folded so I can’t see them, when I feel less inspired, I pick one and doodle, or journal something relevant to me about that quote or statement, or question. It does not have to be art quality, it is a personal journal, but it can get my mojo back, for some real work!! Whatever real is to you, me and anybody else can vary, 😜
